Safari gets Anti-Phishing protection (finally)
Covered, but largely unannounced was Safari’s update to 3.2 this past week that enabled you to have protection from fraudulent phishing websites by offering EV (Extended Validation) certificates.
In true Apple fashion they did it very unobtrusively, and it looks nice.
IE7 will color the whole address bar Green. (IIRC, I haven’t used IE7 in a couple months).
Firefox makes the left hand side of the Address Bar Green and juts it out to the right a little.
To see what I am talking about, go to a site like www.paypal.com that offers EV certs.
Anyway..
Safari does this:

“PayPal, Inc” You will see this image:

Showing you the certificate (and the details of it, if you click the arrow), and its validity.
Now, this is not a new feature in browsers. Other browsers have been doing it for awhile, and in fact, I remember talking about it on the ISC podcast awhile back, about the fact that Safari didn’t process EV certification. Well, now it does, and it does it very discreetly.
